Lead Peptide Chemistry Scientist - Senior Scientist / Scientist II



This role supports MedImmune’s goals for a new generation of peptide leads for a sustainable pipeline of biologic drugs. You will work closely with multiple therapeutic areas to identify new peptide-based therapeutics and you will act as co-leader on peptide drug projects. You will direct experimental strategy and perform practical synthetic chemistry for the development of novel peptide therapeutics.

There will be both hands on laboratory and desk based aspects to the role involving performance of experimental work directly and through supervision as well as accountability for the technical and synthesis strategy and execution on peptide projects. You would report to the head of the group and would be expected to gradually take over key responsibilities for team performance and strategy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide hands on leadership and expertise in the design of peptides
  • Plan and execute laboratory and external activities to meet project timelines
  • Ensure availability of high quality synthetic peptides for all project work
  • Provide scientific expertise working at the bench
  • Develop new approaches for high throughput peptide synthesis
  • Proactively support a number of ongoing projects
  • Communicate technical and scientific recommendations related to peptides
  • Prepare high quality reports and presentations


Who we are looking for …

You are likely to hold a relevant PhD and postdoctoral experience (or equivalent) in peptide, organic or medicinal chemistry. Experience with synthetic peptide chemistry and development of peptide therapeutics for drug discovery is essential. It would be desirable to have project leadership experience.
