This recently published special issue originates from the scientific contributions at the 7th International Meeting on Antimicrobial Peptides held in Copenhagen, at the Panum Center at the University of Copenhagen on 25-27 August 2017. The conference was organized under the auspices of Roskilde University, the University of Copenhagen, and the Protein & Peptide Science Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The chairmen were Paul Robert Hansen and Håvard Jenssen.

The papers published in this issue of Journal of Peptide Science summarize fragments of the interdisciplinary discussions at the IMAP conference. Contributions from all conference participants were highly appreciated and ensured making the meeting yet another success. The significant impact of the IMAP meeting and the increasing crowed of scientists who visit this venue should be an encouragement for the organizers to continue their effort. The next meeting takes place in Edinburgh in September 2018: http://peptideconferences.org/imap‐2018.
